Find Your Path: Where Are You Starting?
Pick the line that sounds like you. Get a short reading order, in sequence, and one clear next step.
The fastest way to learn AI for sales is to start from your job, not from the tool. Pick the path that matches where you are today, read its 3 to 5 pages in order, and do each page's exercise before you open the next.
In 30 seconds
- Five paths: I'm new to AI · I'm a prospecting rep · I'm a closing rep · I lead a sales team · I'm changing careers into sales.
- Read in order. Each read sets up the next one, and most end with an exercise you can finish in 15 minutes.
- Not sure which fits? Take the two minute readiness assessment below. Your score points to one of four plans.
- Two paths fit? Do reads 1 to 3 of the beginner path, then switch to your role.

Key idea
Start from your job, not from the tool. The same skills look different in a prospecting rep's call block, a closing rep's deal review and a manager's one on one.
The five paths
I'm new to AI
For: reps and managers who have barely used AI. No technical background needed.
Your first 5 reads, in order
- Start Here: AI for Sales in Plain English. The map, and why context matters more than the tool.
- What Is AI? A Plain English Guide for Salespeople. The brilliant new hire idea.
- Your First Hour with AI at Work. A guided, timed first session on one real task.
- Prompting 101. A simple five part way to ask: goal, context, inputs, rules and format.
- Is It Safe to Use AI at Work?. The data traffic light, before you paste anything real, and why a confident answer can still be a hallucination.
Next step: follow Your AI Plan: Curious Starter, a 30 day plan at about 30 minutes a week.
I'm a prospecting rep
For: prospecting reps who research accounts, write outreach, run call blocks and hand meetings to closing reps.
Your first 5 reads, in order
- AI for Prospecting Reps: The Complete Guide. A day and a week in the role, with AI at each step.
- How to Build a Seller Context File. A seller context file is one page that stops AI guessing about your product, buyer and voice.
- How to Use AI for Account Research. Verified briefs, without made up facts.
- How to Write Cold Emails with AI That Don't Sound Like AI. Start from a real trigger and a problem the buyer owns.
- AI Sales Roleplay. Practice cold calls and objections before the real dial.
Next step: pick the goal plan that fits: mornings back for selling if research and admin eat your call block, stop freezing on objections if the phone is the hard part, emails that sound like me if you rewrite every draft, or promoted to closing rep if you want the next seat.
I'm a closing rep
For: closing reps who run discovery, multithread, build mutual action plans and answer for the forecast.
Your first 5 reads, in order
- AI for Closing Reps. Where AI helps at each deal stage, and where it never should.
- How to Prep for a Sales Meeting in 10 Minutes with AI. A one page brief, minute by minute, for every meeting.
- How to Use AI for Discovery Questions. Test a hypothesis instead of reading a list.
- AI for Sales Call Notes. Transcript to CRM update in 10 minutes.
- How to Write Follow Up Emails with AI That Add Value. After meetings, no shows and stalled deals, with value in every touch.
Next step: the AI for Sales Certification splits Session 8 into an Closing track: deal strategy reviews and a mutual action plan built on one of your own open deals.
I lead a sales team
For: managers, directors and enablement leaders who need the whole team using AI well and safely.
Your first 4 reads, in order
- AI for Sales Managers. Coaching, pipeline reviews, forecast prep and team adoption.
- AI Policy for Sales Teams. The data and accuracy rules to set before anyone pastes a deal.
- AI Sales Automation: What to Automate (and What Not To). Where AI should act on its own, and where a person must approve. It also covers how to judge AI sales agent tools.
- AI Certification for Sales Teams. Eight criteria for any training program, and a 5 week rollout plan.
Next step: estimate what your team's time is worth with the time savings calculator, using your own numbers. Then see team options or book a 20 minute call.
I'm changing careers into sales
For: people moving into a first sales role from another field. You may not have a company AI account or a CRM yet.
Your first 4 reads, in order
- AI for Sales: A Practical Guide for Sales Reps. How AI fits each stage of the sales cycle, so the job makes sense end to end.
- AI for Prospecting Reps: The Complete Guide. What a typical first sales role looks like day to day.
- AI Sales Roleplay. Practice calls and objections with fictional buyers. You don't need a job to start.
- What AI Can't Do in Sales (Yet). Where your judgment and relationships matter most.
Next step: practice on public information and fictional companies only, and save your best roleplay scorecards. Once you're hired, follow I Want to Ramp Faster in a New Job. The AI for Sales Certification needs a sales seat: a company approved AI account, CRM access and real target accounts.
If two paths fit
Plenty of people sit between two cards.
New to AI and a prospecting or closing rep?
Do reads 1 to 3 of the beginner path first. Then start your role path at read 1. Your role path assumes you've had a first real session.
Prospecting rep who wants to become a closing rep?
Finish the prospecting rep path, then add discovery questions and AI for Closing Reps. The goal plan I Want to Get Promoted to Closing Rep turns that practice into evidence your manager can see.
Player coach who still carries a number?
Do your role path for your own deals, and the leader path's first two reads for your team.
Leader who hasn't used AI yourself?
Do reads 1 to 3 of the beginner path first. You'll coach it better.
Not sure? Take the assessment
Ten questions, about two minutes. You get a score out of 30, one of four profiles and three next steps based on your weakest areas.

Prompt
Help me pick my path
I want to learn to use AI for my sales work. Interview me before you recommend anything. Ask me up to 5 questions, one at a time, about my role, how I use AI now and where my week goes.
Then recommend one of these five starting paths and explain why in 3 sentences:
1. I'm new to AI
2. I'm a prospecting rep
3. I'm a closing rep
4. I lead a sales team
5. I'm changing careers into sales
If two fit, tell me which to start with and which reads to borrow from the other.Prompt
Find the tasks your path should fix first
Here is a list of the tasks I did last week, with rough minutes for each: {paste your list, 15 to 25 tasks, small ones included}.
1. Tag each task with the skill it needs: research, writing, summarizing, data cleanup, practice or analysis.
2. Rate its AI fit from 1 to 5. High fit tasks repeat, are text heavy and are easy to check.
3. Circle my top 3.
4. For each of the top 3, tell me which kind of guide covers it: account research, outreach writing, call practice, meeting prep, call notes or team adoption.
Don't add tasks I didn't list. This is a short version of the Session 1 task audit in the AI for Sales Certification.
Prompt
Turn one read into a habit this week
I just read "{page title}" on Wicked Growth Club. Its exercise is: {paste the exercise}.
My week looks like this: {for example "call blocks 9 to 11 Tuesday to Thursday, team meeting Monday at 10, pipeline review Friday"}.
Pick three 15 minute slots this week to do the exercise on real work, and tell me exactly which task to use it on in each slot. Keep the plan to 5 lines. If the exercise works, save the prompt as a prompt template.
Prompt
Sort my team into paths (for leaders)
I lead a sales team of {number} people. Below is each person's role, time in seat and how they use AI today, labeled Rep A, Rep B and so on. No names.
{for example "Rep A: prospecting rep, 4 months, hasn't used AI at work. Rep B: closing rep, 3 years, uses AI for recap emails most days."}
Sort each rep into one of these starting paths: new to AI, prospecting rep, closing rep. Flag anyone who should take the readiness assessment first because I can't tell. Then suggest one thing I can do in my next team meeting to get everyone started the same week.Your path plan

Frequently asked questions
Which AI for sales path should I start with?
Start with the path that matches your job today: prospecting rep, closing rep or sales leader. If you've barely used AI, start with the beginner path's first three reads, then switch to your role.
Do I have to read the pages in order?
Yes, if you can. Each read sets up the next. For example, the seller context file comes before research and outreach because every later prompt uses it.
Are the paths free?
Yes. Every read on this page is a free guide. The paid AI for Sales Certification is an optional next step for sales reps who want structured practice on their own accounts and a verified credential.
How is this different from the readiness assessment?
The assessment measures how you use AI today and gives you a plan for your level. This page gives you a reading order for your role. Most people use both.
I'm moving into sales. Can I still use these paths?
Yes. Use the career changer path and practice on public information and fictional companies. Never put a former employer's data into AI. The certification needs a sales seat with real accounts, so it's a step for after you're hired.
